The Ocean in the Forest

In this installation, the artist temporarily transformed a historic private “tea pavilion” and the old rhododendron passage leading up to it into a ceremonial space.Drawing on ancestral and intuitive wisdom, Ifekoya explores embodiment through sound, stillness, scents, and intentional space. The “Apo Ifa” symbolizes the sacred diviner’s bag in Yoruba tradition. For Ifekoya, the Apo Ifa embodies the necessary tools for holding space by transforming environments to encourage people to arrive—to be present emotionally, mentally, and physically.
